originate in any other county, in the City of Baltimore, or with-
out the State, or in event there should be no Justice of the
Peace in the election district where the defendant resides or
such contract was made or cause of action originated, then such
person may be sued in any election district in said county, and
provided that where there are two or more defendants residing
in different districts it shall be lawful to institute proceedings
in any district in which any defendant resides.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect,
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 525.
AN ACT to add additional Sections to Article Twenty-two of the-
Code of the Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Washington
County," sub-title "Hancock," to follow Section 241P of said
Article as enacted by Chapter 315 of the Acts of the General
Assembly of Maryland of the year 1906, and to be known as
Sections 241Q, 241R, 241S, 241T, 241U, 241V, 241W, 241X,
241Y, 241Z and 241AA, authorizing the Burgess and Commis-
sioners of Hancock to construct, operate and maintain a sys-
tem of water works, and a system of drains or sewers, and to
issue and sell bonds to pay for the same, in whole or in part,
and to do other matters relating to the same.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the following additional Sections be added to Article
Twenty-two of the Public Local Laws of Maryland, title '' Wash-
ington County," sub-title "Hancock," to follow Section 241P
of said Article as enacted by Chapter 315 of the Acts of the
General Assembly of Maryland of the year 1906, to be known
as Sections 241Q, 241R, 241S, 241T, 241U, 241V, 241W, 241X,
241Y, 241-Z and 241AA, said respective Sections to read as
follows:
241Q. The Burgess and Commissioners of Hancock are au-
thorized and empowered to locate, design, adopt, construct op-
erate and maintain, repair, extend, enlarge or improve a system
of water works or a water works for the purpose of supplying
to the inhabitants of the town of Hancock and corporations,
firms and establishments doing business therein, a suitable and
adequate supply of water for manufacturing, industrial and
domestic purposes, and protection to property from fire, and for
