structed, or to be widened, opened, graded or constructed, or on
the line of any street or avenue for which application is made
for the extension of the same, or on the line of any street or
avenue for which application is made for the laying off of the
same; and if one examiner be appointed his pay shall be five
dollars per day, and if three examiners be appointed, their pay
shall be four dollars each per day, for every day actually and
necessarily engaged in the matter of his or their appointment;
and such examiner or examiners shall keep an accurate itemized
account of all moneys received and disbursed by him or them,
and shall file an accurate statement of such account, with
vouchers, with the County Commissioners at such time or times
as the County Commissioners shall require; and such account
shall be subject to the approval and ratification of the County
Commissioners.
395. Whenever any examiner or examiners shall be ap-
pointed by the County Commissioners as hereinbefore provided
for in this sub-title of this Article, he or they, after taking
the oath required by the provisions of this sub-title of this
Article, before proceeding to collect any assessments made for
benefits by him or them, shall file a bond with at least two
sureties in double the amount of the sums of money collectible,
being the difference between the damages and the benefits as-
sessed by him or them, to be approved by the County Commis-
sioners, conditioned for the true and faithful performance of
his or their duty as examiner or examiners, which bond shall
be to the State of Maryland, and made to the benefit of any
person or persons aggrieved, injured or damaged in any man-
ner by the proceedings of said examiner or examiners.
396. If any such examiner or examiners shall die, or refuse
or neglect to file the said bond, or proceed with the duties re-
quired of them by this sub-title of this Article, at any time
after his or their appointment, the County Commissioners, upon
application being made them, with satisfactory proof of the
death, refusal or neglect as aforesaid, shall, in case of the death
of any such examiner or examiners, at their next regular meet-
ing, appoint another or others; and in case of such refusal or
neglect, as aforesaid, they shall give such examiner or examiners
notice, and if he or they shall continue so to neglect or refuse,
as aforesaid, for thirty days thereafter, they shall appoint
another or other examiners.
397. All monies received by any such examiner or examiners
for benefits, or from any other source in connection with the
