PHILLIPS LEE GOLDSBOROUGH, GOVERNOR. 867

401 to 407, inclusive, and Section 409 of Article 3 of the Code
of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Baltimore County,"
sub-title "Streets," and Section 431 of the said Article, sub-
title "Twelfth District," so as to give to, impose on and
repose in the County Commissioners of Baltimore County all
the powers, duties and authority, rights, privileges or prop-
erty in respect to the public streets, avenues and alleys of
Baltimore County now had by the Highways Commission of
. Baltimore County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Sections 386 to 388 inclusive, Sections 390 to 392
inclusive, Sections 394 to 398 inclusive, Sections 401 to 407 in-
clusive, and Section 409 of Article 3 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland, title "Baltimore County," sub-title
"Streets," and Section 431 of the said Article, sub-title
''Twelfth District," be and the same are hereby repealed and
re-enacted with amendments so as to read as follows:

386. Whenever it may be desirable to have any street or
avenue, which may have been already laid off, extended beyond
its terminus, the owners of a majority of front feet of ground,
bounding and fronting on any portion of said street or avenue,
as laid off, and including the line of the proposed extension,
may make application to the County Commissioners of Baltimore
County, in writing, setting forth the street or avenue that they
desire to have extended, and the line, approximate dis-
tance, and the point of termination of such proposed
extension; and when said application is presented, the County
Commissioners of Baltimore County shall appoint one examiner,
or three examiners in the manner hereinafter provided for,
whose duty it shall be to lay off and extend said streets
or avenue in accordance with said application, and the
provisions of this sub-title of this Article; but said street
or avenue shall be laid off and extended in conformity
with the streets and avenues of Baltimore City, and with
the streets and avenues already laid off in Baltimore County, so
far as practicable; and before any examiner or examiners shall
proceed to act in the premises, he or they shall take an oath or
affirmation before some Justice of the Peace of the State, in and
for Baltimore County, that he or they will well and truly lay off
and extend the said street or avenue, and will, in all respects,
act without prejudice or partiality in the matter; and after hav-
ing made such oath or affirmation, the examiner or examiners
shall give at least ten days' notice by publication in one or more
