788 LAWS OF MARYLAND.

in said Article and made a Section thereof in its proper place,
and as of its proper number.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new Section be and the same is hereby added to
Article 17 of the Code of Public Local Laws, title "Prince
George's County," sub-title "Bawdy Houses and Houses of Ill
Fame," to be incorporated in said Article of the Code in its.
proper place and as of its proper codified number and to read
as follows:

SECTION . Whenever a house shall be erected, established,
continued, maintained, used, owned or occupied in Prince
George's County contrary to the provisions of Section 18 of
Article 27 of Poe's Code of Public General Laws, title '' Crimes.
and Punishment," sub-title "Bawdy Houses and Houses of
Ill Fame," not only the occupants and tenants of said houses,
but the owners and landlords of the same who shall knowingly
suffer or permit such a house to be erected, established or main-
tained, used or occupied contrary to the provisions of said Sec-
tion 18, of Article 27 above mentioned shall be guilty of a
misdemeanor and any landlord or tenant who shall be so guilty
of renting from or to a house of the character mentioned in
Section 18, Article 27, shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor
and the State's- Attorney for said County, upon written com-
plaint of ten citizens of said County, shall have served through
the Sheriff of said County a three days' notice, in writing,
notifying both the landlord and the tenant that the said house-
shall be vacated within three days of the receipt of said notice,
and if the tenant shall refuse to vacate said premises, or in the
event that said tenant shall refuse to vacate, then and in that
event, if the landlord shall not evict the tenant from the said
property and have it closed for the aforesaid immoral pur-
poses, the State's Attorney shall immediately petition the Cir-
cuit Court for Prince George's County for an order directing
the immediate closing of said houses, and should the landlord
or tenant refuse, to close the same, the Courts as aforesaid, shall
immediately hear and determine the cases, and in the event
that the traversers shall demand a jury trial, they shall be-
held in a bond under a penalty of not less than One Thousand
Dollars for their appearance at the next Jury term of said
Court, and upon the trial and conviction the bonds so filed shall
be forfeited and a fine in the full penalty of the bond shall
be imposed and execution thereon shall immediately issue,
without a trial on the civil side of said Court to declare said
