SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 429.
AN ACT to add two new Sections to Article 45-A of Bagby's
Code of Public General Laws of Maryland, title "Immigra-
tion," to be designated as Sections 4a and 4b, providing for
an exhibition room and agricultural labor employment office;
and to repeal and re-enact Sections 5 and 6 of the same Article
with amendments.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That two new sections be and the same are hereby added
to article 45-A of the Code of Public General Laws of Maryland,
entitled "Immigration" and to be designated as Sections 4a and
4b, and that Sections 5 and 6 of the same Article be and are here-
by repealed and re-enacted, to read as follows:
SEC. 4a. The Board of immigration commissioners shall also
secure a room in connection with the other offices of the bureau,
in which shall be kept specimens of agricultural products of the
State as may be furnished the bureau by the producers or se-
cured by the office for the purpose of giving to the agricultural
homeseekers who come to the office, ocular demonstrations of the
quality and variety of crops raised in the State.
SEC. 4b. That there shall be established in connection with
the immigration bureau an agricultural employment department
for the purpose of securing gratuitously efficient farm help to
meet the demands for such labor in the agricultural communi-
ties of this State. There shall be kept a record of those apply-
ing for farm help and also of those seeking such employment
with other data as to age, character and capacity of the appli-
cant for work. And that the commissioners of immigration shall
use such means as, in their judgment, will meet the demands of
this department.
SEC. 5. The said Board of immigration commissioners shall
appoint a secretary, who shall be a person of good address and
conversant with English, the German, Dutch and French langu-
ages, if practicable, who shall hold office during the time of said
board, unless his appointment shall be sooner revoked for cause;
