work in such manner as may be agreed upon by the agents of
the Co-Operative Institution. Provided, that not more than
One Thousand Dollars per year be appropriated for this pur-
pose by the said County Commissioners.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 319.

AN ACT to amend Article 22 of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland of 1888, title "Washington County," sub-title
Collectors of Taxes,'' by adding an additional Section thereto
to follow Section 78-B of said Article and to be known as
Section 78-C, relating to the deposit of money received and
collected.

SECTION ]. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Article 22 of the Code of Public Local Laws of'Mary-
land of 1888, title "Washington County," sub-title "Collectors
of Taxes," be and the same is hereby amended by adding an
additional Section thereto, to follow Section 78-B of said Article
and to be known as Section 78-C, and to read as follows:

SECTION 78-C. It shall be the duty of every Collector of
Taxes in Washington County, promptly to deposit any and all
moneys by him received and collected in some bank or banking
institution in Hagerstown, Maryland, the said place of deposit
to be approved by the County Commissioners of Washington
County, and in approving such place of deposit the said Com-
missioners shall prefer the bank or banking institution which
shall agree to pay the highest rate of interest on daily balances
of said deposits; provided, however, if two or more banks or
banking institutions shall agree to pay the same rate of interest
on said deposits, and the said rate of interest shall be the highest
rate of interest offered by a bank or banking institution afore-
said, then the said Commissioners may prefer one of the said
banks or banking institutions offering the highest rate of interest
as aforesaid and approve the same; and provided further that
the said County Commissioners of Washington County may
require the Bank or Banking Institution wherein the said de-
posits are placed, to give bond, to be approved by the said
County Commissioners of Washington County, for the faithful
performance of its trust.
