CHAPTER 305.
AN ACT to recognize the services of the Fifth Maryland Regi-
ment and to authorize and empower it to suitably inscribe
such services upon its colors.
WHEREAS, The Fifth Maryland Regiment of Infantry served
with distinction during the Revolutionary War and the War
of 1812; and
WHEREAS, Said regiment has had continuous existence from
the Revolutionary War to the present time, with the exception
of the period from 1861 to 1867. The numerical designation of
the regiment having been changed by executive order from
Fifth to Fifty-third Regiment, and as such Fifty-third Regi-
ment it was disbanded in 1861 when many of the members
thereof participated in the Civil War in both the Union and
Confederate armies, and thereafter, to wit, in 1867; said mem-
bers, together Avith others, organized the present regiment now
known as Fifth Regiment Infantry, Maryland National Guard,
which said organization has continued from May 10th, 1867, to
the present time; and
WHEREAS, Said Fifth Regiment Infantry participated in the
Spanish War as the Fifth Maryland United States Volunteer
Infantry; therefore,
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the service of said Fifth Regiment be and it is hereby
recognized as continuous from the commencement of the Revolu-
tionary War.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said Fifth Regiment be
and it is hereby authorized and empowered to place upon the
staff of its colors suitable bands inscribed with the name of the
wars in which it has participated and the dates of such service
and also the name and date of such battles, skirmishes and
expeditions in which it has participated.
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

AN ACT to prohibit the licensing and taxing by Municipalities
of the business of selling from a wagon at retail of fresh fruits,
vegetables and country produce by the growers and producers
