house, company, manufacturer, association or body corporate,
bartered, sold or gave away, or solicited or received orders for
the purchase of, or kept deposited, or had with intent to barter,
sell or give away, or that the same had been bartered, sold or
given away in violation of said provisions; but it shall be suffi-
cient if the indictment set forth that the traverser bartered,
sold or gave away, or solicited or received orders for the pur-
chase of, or kept deposited, or had with intent to barter, sell or
give away spirituous, fermented or malt liquors or intoxicating
drinks, or with intent that the same be bartered, sold or given
away in violation of said provisions.

SEC. 12. And be it enacted, That if it shall appear by the
returns of said Judges and the certificate of said Clerk, that a
majority of such votes have been cast "For License, " then and
in that event the following Sections shall be added, and no per-
son in Garrett County shall obtain a license for the sale or barter
of spirituous, malt or fermented liquors in any quantities what-
ever except such as shall be qualified as hereinafter provided.

SEC. 13. And be it enacted, That any person in Garrett
County who may keep a house for the reception of guests, or of
permanent or of transient boarders, containing at least five
chambers more than are needed for his family purposes, and
which said five or more chambers are used for the reception of
guests or permanent or transient boarders, containing therein
for use at all times, at least six good beds, with sufficient cover-
ing therefor, shall be deemed and considered to be a hotel keeper
within the meaning of this Act.

SEC. 14. And be it enacted, That no license shall be granted
to any person, house, company, manufacturer, association or
body corporate, to sell spirituous, fermented or malt liquors or
alcoholic bitters or intoxicating drinks of any kind, outside of
the corporate limits of the incorporated towns in said County.

SEC. 15. And be it enacted, That any person desiring to ob-
tain a license under this Act to sell spirituous, malt or fermented
liquors in Garrett County, shall file a petition with the Clerk of
the Circuit Court for Garrett County on the first day of May, in
which he shall state, first, the name and residence of the appli-
cant and how long he has resided there; second, the particular
place for which a license is desired, designating the same by
street and number, if practicable, and if not, by such other apt
description as definitely locates it; third, the place of birth of
such applicant, and if a naturalized citizen, when and where
