is hereby given to the purposes of the grant made by said Act
H. R. No. 7951 of the Second Session of the Sixty-third Con-
gress and that the said Maryland Agricultural College be and
the same is hereby designated as the institution entitled to re-
ceive the moneys appropriated for Maryland, and that the
Treasurer of the said institution be and is hereby designated
as the proper person to receive the said appropriations.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the assent of the State of
Maryland to the grants of money for the purposes, upon the
terms and in accordance with the several conditions and provi-
sions contained in said Act, is hereby signified and expressed
and the Secretary of the State is hereby directed to transmit a
certified copy of this Act to the Treasurer of the United States
and to the Secretary of Agriculture of the United States.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 248.

AN ACT to add a new Section to Article 5 of Bagby's Annotated
Code of the Public Civi7 Laws of Maryland, title "Appeals
and Errors," sub-title "Appeals from Courts of Law," by the
addition of a new Section to be known as Section 22-A, and
to come immediately alter Section 22.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly -of Mary-
land, That a new Section be, and the same is hereby added to
Article 5 of Bagby's Annotated Code of the Public Civil Laws
of Maryland, title "Appeals.and Errors," sub-title "Appeals
from Courts of Law," to be known as Section 22-A and to come
immediately after Section 22, and to read as follows:

SEC. 22-A. If it appears to the Court of Appeals that a
reversible error affects a severable item or part only of the
matters in controversy, the Court may direct final judgment
as to the remaining parts or items thereof, and may direct a
new trial as to the said severable part or item only.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.
