1604 LAWS OF MARYLAND.

to the collection or recovery from any purchaser of real estate
after the issue of said certificate of any tax or assessment
omitted therefrom and which may be a lien upon the real estate
mentioned therein, but said certificate shall not affect the lia-
bility therefor or the person who owned the real estate at the
time such tax was levied or at any time after such levy, and
before the issue of said certificate; and said Treasurer shall
be responsible to said County for any loss of taxes that may
arise from error in said certificate.

SEC. 121-C. The Treasurer shall receive as compensation for
his services as Treasurer and Collector of Dorchester County,
an annual salary of Sixteen Hundred Dollars ($1.600.00),
which shall be paid in equal monthly installments. And the
said salary shall be his sole compensation, except he shall be
allowed five per cent. (5%) commission on sales of real and
personal property sold under this Act for taxes.

SEC. 121-D. The said County Commissioners may, for ne-
glect of duty, misconduct in office, removal from the County
or for inefficiency in the discharge of the duties of his office,
remove any Treasurer of Dorchester County after charges in
writing have been preferred against such official, and evidence
as to the same has been heard, and the County Commissioners
may adopt rules for hearing such charges.

SEC. 121-E. James R. Jones, the present Treasurer, upon
giving bond and taking the oath of office within sixty days
after this Act shall take effect, shall hold office under
this Act until his successor is elected and qualified;
and during his said term of office he shall perform all
the duties, possess and exercise all the powers, have all the
rights and receive the compensations mentioned, appointed and
prescribed for the Treasurer and Collector of Dorchester County
as set forth in this Act. Ari election for Treasurer shall be
held at the general election in November, 1917, and every four
years thereafter, and any County Treasurer elected in Dorches-
ter County after the passage of this Act shall qualify on the
first day of January after his election, and hold office until his
successor is duly elected and qualified.

SEC. 121-F. The provisions of the Code of Public General
Laws of Maryland now in force or hereafter enacted applica-
ble to collectors of State and County taxes, except when the
same are repealed by or inconsistent with the provisions of this
Act, shall be held to apply to the Treasurer of said County,
