CHAPTER 823.

AN ACT to amend the Code of Public General Laws of Maryland,
title "Forestry," by repealing Sections numbered 2, 3, 5 and
8, Article 39-A, in Bagby's Annotated Code of Public Civil
Laws of Maryland, 1911, the same being also Sections num-
bered 2, 3, 5 and 8 of Chapter 294 of the Acts of 1906, with
amendments made to Sections 5 and 8 in Chapter 161 of the
Acts of 1910, and to re-enact the same with amendments; and
to add a new Section to the Code of Public General Laws of
Maryland, title "Forestry," conferring power upon the State
Board of Forestry to acquire property under Article 33-A of
the Code of Public General Laws of Maryland, title '' Eminent
Domain," for forest uses and reserves, said new.Section to be
known as Section 17, and to follow immediately after Section
numbered 16 in Bagby's Annotated Code of Public Civil
Laws of Maryland, 1911.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Sections numbered 2, 3, 5 and 8, Article 39-A, in
Bagby's Annotated Code of Public General Civil Laws of
Maryland, 1911, title "Forestry"; the same being also Sections
numbered 2, 3, 5 and 8 of Chapter 294 of the Acts of 1906,
with amendments to Sections numbered 5 and 8 in Chapter 161
of the Acts of 1910, are hereby repealed and re-enacted with
amendments, following, and that a new Section is hereby added
to the Code of Public General Laws of Maryland, title "For-
estry," conferring power upon the State Board of Forestry to
acquire property for forest uses and reserves under Article
33-A of the Code of Public General Laws of Maryland, title
"Eminent Domain," said new Section to be known as Section
17, and to follow immediately after Section numbered 16 in
Bagby's Annotated Code of Public Civil Laws of Maryland,
1911.

2. There shall be appointed by the State Board of Forestry
a State Forester, who shall be a technically trained forester
of not less than two years' experience in professional forestry
work; his compensation shall be fixed by the Board and he
shall be allowed reasonable traveling and field expenses incurred
in the performance of his official duties. He shall under the
general supervision of the State Board of Forestry have direc-
tion of all forest interests and all matters pertaining to fores-
try and the forest reserves within the jurisdiction of the State.
He shall appoint, subject to the approval and confirmation of
