Punishments;" sub-title, "Health—Workshops and Factories—
Sweating System," be and the same is hereby repealed and re-
enacted with amendments so as to read as follows:
SEC. 252. Any person, firm or corporation, who shall in any
manner violate the provisions of Sections 249, 250 and 251,
243, 245, 24G, 247 and 250, or who shall refuse to give such in-
formation and access to the Chief of the Bureau of Industrial
Statistics or his deputies or secure such permit as provided,
shall, upon conviction in any court of competent jurisdiction be
fined not less than five dollars nor more than one hundred dol-
lars, or imprisoned not less than ten days nor more than one
year, or both, in the discretion of the court, such fines to be
collected as all fines are collected by law.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That all Acts or parts of
Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland inconsistent here-
with be and the same are hereby repealed insofar as they con-
flict herewith.
SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 780.
AN ACT to authorize the consolidation of the Edison Electric
Illuminating Company of Cumberland, Maryland, and the
Cumberland Electric Railway Company.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Edison Electric Illuminating Company of Cum-
berland, Maryland, and the Cumberland Electric Railway Com-
pany, both corporations of the State of Maryland, duly formed
and organized, are hereby authorized to consolidate their prop-
erties, rights and franchises, and that all the property and
assets belonging to said corporations of Avhatsoever nature and
description, and all the powers, franchises and rights, and all
debts and liabilities of said corporations of whatever nature
and description, including the franchise granted to the Edison
Electric Illuminating Company of Cumberland, Maryland, by
an order of the Mayor and City Council of Cumberland, ap-
proved March 4, 1884, and recorded in Order Book, Page 134,
and the franchise granted by said Mayor and- City Council of
Cumberland to the Cumberland Electric Railway Company by
