cessors shall be duly qualified and nothing contained in this Act
shall be construed to interfere with the continuity of the terms
or tenure of said officers; nor shall the re-appointment or re-
election of any of said officers be necessary in order to secure
the said continuity of their said terms and tenures of office
unless otherwise provided in this Act.

SEC. 99. And be it further enacted, That any suit, action or
proceeding now pending shall not abate by reason of the pas-
sage of this Act.

SEC. 100. And be it further enacted, That each Section of
this Act and every part of each Section are hereby declared to
be independent Sections, and the holding of any Section or
Sections or part or parts thereof to be void, ineffective or un-
constitutional for any cause shall not be deemed to affect any
other Section, or part thereof.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 731.

AN ACT to amend the Charter of Hillsborough, by repealing
Sections one hundred sixty-nine to one hundred eighty-two, in-
clusive, of Article six of the Code of Public Local Laws, title
"Caroline County," sub-title "Hillsborough," and also to
repeal Chapter five-hundred ninety-seven of the Acts of the
General Assembly of Maryland for the year nineteen hundred
and four, being "An Act to incorporate the town of Hills-
boro", Caroline County, Maryland," and all amendments and
additions thereto, except as hereinafter retained and pre-
served, and to re-enact the same with amendments.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Sections one hundred and sixty-nine to one hundred
and eighty-two, inclusive of Article six of the Code of Public
Local Laws, title '' Caroline County,'' sub-title Hillsborough, and
also Chapter five hundred ninety-seven of the Acts of the
General Assembly of Maryland for the year nineteen hundred
and four, being "An Act" to incorporate the town of Hillsboro
"Caroline County, Maryland," and all amendments and addi-
tions thereof, except as hereinafter retained and preserved be,
and the same are hereby repealed and re-enacted with amend-
