PHILLIPS LEE GOLDSBOROUGH, GOVERNOR.

SECTION 2. And be it further enacted, That the Comptroller-
of the Treasury be and he is hereby authorized and directed to
issue his warrant upon the Treasurer from time to time for
such amounts and to such person or persons as the Board of"
Shellfish Commissioners may from time to time require and
direct in writing, the aggregate of said warrants, however, not.
to exceed the sum of $15,000.

SECTION 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall-
take effect from the date of its passage.

Approved April 10th, 1914.

CHAPTER 704.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Sections 217
and 218 of Article 81 of the Code of Public General Laws of
Maryland, title "Revenue and Taxes," sub-title ''State Au-
ditor," as the said Sections were enacted by Chapter 190 of the
Acts of 1912.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, Thgt Sections 217 and 218 of Article 81 of the Code of
Public General Laws of Maryland, title " Revenue and Taxes,"
sub-title "State Auditor," as the said Sections were enacted by
Chapter 190 of the Acts of the General Assembly of 1912, be
and the same are hereby repealed and re-enacted with amend-
ments so as to read as follows :

217. There shall be in the Treasury Department a
Auditor and two (2) Deputy State Auditors to be appointed by
the Governor, Comptroller and Treasurer, or a majority of
them, who shall take the oath prescribed by the Constitution,
and shall hold their office for two years from the date of their
qualification and until the appointment and qualification of
their successors. The State Auditor shall receive a salary of
Twenty-five Hundred Dollars ($3,500) per annum, and each
Deputy State Auditor shall receive a salary of Two Thousand
($2,000) per annum, payable monthly, and the Comptroller
shall issue his warrant, for the monthly payments of said sal-
aries. The State Auditor and the Deputy State Auditors shall
each give a Bond to the State of Maryland in the penalty of
Twenty-five Hundred Dollars ($2,500) condition upon the
faithful performance of their duties, the surety to be approved
by the Comptroller. The State Auditor shall appoint such as
