of the City Magistrate of Cumberland, Maryland, to perform
the duties required by this Act of the said Magistrate for Ju-
venile Cases pending such absence, illness, disability or dis-
qualification.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That all Acts and parts of Acts
inconsistent with this Act be and they are hereby repealed.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

Approved April 10th, 1914.

CHAPTER 702.

.AN ACT to authorize and empower the Mayor and' City Council
of Cumberland to close Water Street, between the Potomac
River and Smallwood Street in the City of Cumberland, said
Street running Westerly from said Potomac River, a distance
of One Hundred and thirty-four feet and six-tenths on the
North side of said Street and 100 feet on the South side of
said Street and having a width of 40 feet, and to empower
Commissioners to award compensation to any person or per-
sons owning property on said street which may be closed
who may be effected thereby.

WHEREAS, The Loyal Order of Moose, of Cumberland Lodge,
No. 271, has purchased the lots bounding on both sides of Water
Street, between the Potomac River and Smallwood Street, and
have built thereon a building to be used as a home for said or-
ganization; whereby said portion of Water Street will no longer
be needed for the use of the public, but will be occupied by said
home and the grounds adjacent thereto; therefore,

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Mayor and City Council of Cumberland be and
they are hereby authorized and empowered to close all the part
of Water street lying between the West side of the Potomac River
and the East side of Smallwood Street, said street being 40 feet
wide and having a length of 134.6 feet on the North side, and
100 feet on the South side thereof, and to provide for ascer-
taining whether any and what amount in value of damages will
be caused thereby to the owners or possessors of any property
lying on or through which said street may pass, which ought to
be compensated by appointment of commissioners to assess the
same as provided in Section 66 of the Article 1 of the Code of
