prove in writing any such abatement before the same shall be
effective; and provided, further, that no discharge or acquit-
tance under this Section shall be effective unless the party or
parties to be benefited shall first pay the attorneys who shall
have the case in hand the legal fees and fees of clerks and
sheriffs.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 677.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 66,
67, 68, 69, 70, 71, 72, 73, 74, 75, 76, 77, 78, 79, 80 and 81, Sec-
tion 81 as amended by Chapter 121 of the Acts of 1912, of
Article 91 of the Code of Public Civil Laws of Maryland of
1912, title "Surveyor and State Survey," sub-title "Public
Roads."

CHAPTER 678.
AN ACT providing for the sanitation of factories, canneries,
bakeries, confectioneries, creameries, milk plants and distrib-
uting dairies, hotels, restaurants or eating houses, packing
and slaughter-houses, ice-cream plants and other places where
food products are manufactured, packed, stored, deposited,
collected, prepared, produced, or sold for any purpose what-
ever.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That from and after the approval of this Act, all matters
and things relating to the sanitation of factories, canneries,
bakeries, confectioneries, creameries, milk plants and distrib-
uting dairies, hotels, restaurants or eating-houses, packing and
slaughter-houses, ice-cream plants, and other places where food
products are manufactured, packed, stored, deposited, collected,
prepared, produced or sold for any purpose whatever, shall be
under the supervision of the State Board of Health of Maryland,
which said State Board of Health, with its officers and such
agents as may be appointed by it, is hereby vested with power
and authority to carry into effect the provisions hereof.
