reason of such officer or enlisted man being in uniform, and any
such owner, or agent aforesaid, who upon conviction before a
court of criminal jurisdiction shall be found guilty of a viola-
tion of the provisions of this Section shall be deemed and he is
hereby declared to be guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be fined
a sum not exceeding five hundred dollars or imprisoned for not
more than six months or both in the discretion of the Court.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its approval.

Approved April 13th, 1914.

CHAPTER 664. '

.AN ACT to add two new Sections to Article 20 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Somerset County,"
sub-title "Crisfield," to follow immediately after Section
100-D, and to be designated as Sections 100-E and 100-F.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That two new Sections be and the same are hereby added
to Article 20 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title
"Somerset County," sub-title "Crisfield," to follow immediately
after Section 100-D, and to be designated as Sections 100-E and
100-F, and to read as follows:

100-E. And be it enacted. That to encourage manufacturing
in the City of Crisfield, the Mayor and Council are authorized
to exempt the plant of any manufacturing company or associa-
tion hereafter located within the corporate limits of said city
from taxation for corporate purposes for a period not exceeding
five years, but any ordinance, resolution or contract which ex-
empts from taxation any property except a manufacturing plant,
or which exempts a manufacturing plant for a longer period
than five years shall be absolutely null and void.

SECTION 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.
Approved April 10th, 1914.

CHAPTER 665.

AN ACT to authorize and direct the Treasurer of the State of
Maryland, and the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore, to
refund to William S. Taylor, Jr., receiver for the Patapsco
Distilling Company, certain moneys paid in advance by said
Patapsco Distilling Company for a wholesale liquor license
for a period including two hundred and nineteen days during
