1056 LAWS OF MARYLAND.

SEC. 2. Be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the day of its passage.

Approved April 16th, 1914.

CHAPTER 627.

AN ACT to add a new sub-title to Article 16 of the Code of Public;
Local Laws, as enacted by Chapter 790 of the Acts of 1912,
to be designated as "Sewerage and Drainage," and to enact.
18 new Sections under said sub-title, to be numbered 468,468A,
468B, 468C, 468D, 468E, 468F, 468G, 468H, 4681, 468J,
468K, 468L, 468M, 468N, 4680 and 469, providing that the
Board of County Commissioners of Montgomery County shall
be and become a Sewerage and Drainage Commission, with:
power to appoint a Sanitary Engineer and fix his compensa-
tion; to establish and define sewerage and drainage districts
and areas, to construct or acquire and maintain sewerage and
drainage systems; to issue bonds for such amounts as may be
found necessary to construct the same, and to levy taxes upon
the taxable property within such sewerage or drainage dis-
tricts, or areas, to pay for the construction or acquisition of
sewerage and drainage systems, to provide for the mainte-
nance of such systems when constructed or acquired; to hold
special elections at which the issuance or not of such bonds
shall be determined within the sewerage or drainage districts
or areas affected; to acquire private or municipal sewerage
or drainage plants already constructed, and to contract with
the proper authorities of Prince George's County in thin
State and of the District of Columbia, if found expedient, to
carry out the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly, That
17 new Sections of Article 16 of the Code of Public Local
Laws, under a new sub-title designated as "Sewerage and
Drainage" numbered 468, 468-A, 468-B, 468-C, 468-D, 468-E,
468-F, 468-G, 468-H, 468-I, 468-J, 468-K, 468-L, 468-M, 468-N,
468-0, 468-P and 469 be, and the same are hereby enacted to.
read as follows:

SEC. 468. Be it enacted, That the Board of County Commis-
sioners of Montgomery County, be and are hereby authorized
to act as a Sewerage and Drainage Commission for said County;
that for the purpose of considering and transacting such busi-
ness as may arise through the operation of this Act, they shall
