Sec. 14. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from and after the twenty-eighth day of
February next.

CHAPTER 35.

 

AN ACT to incorporate the Home Missionary
Society of the Maryland Annual Conference, of
the Methodist Protestant church.

Passed Jan.
30, 1862.

SECTION 1 . Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That Eli Henkle, Daniel E. Reese,
Josiah Varden, George D. Hamilton, John W.
Everist, Reuben T. Boyd, Dr. Francis Waters,
James K. Nicols, John Elderdice, John R. Nicols,
Washington Roby and Dr. A. S. Eversole, and all
the ministers and laymen belonging to the Mary-
land Annual Conference of the Methodist Protes-
tant church, or who may become members here-
after of the said Maryland Annual Conference,
and all persons who may become members of this
incorporation, in compliance with the constitution
and by-laws, as may be adopted by this incorpora-
tion, be and they are hereby constituted a body
politic and corporate, by the name and style of the
Home Missionary Society of the Maryland Annual
Conference of the Methodist Protestant church,
and by that name, for the purposes hereinafter
mentioned, may have perpetual succession and be
able and capable to sue and be sued, plead and be
impleaded, answer and be answered unto, and
issue all legal process in any court of law or equity,
or before any judge, officer, or other person or per-
sons whatever, within the State of Maryland or
elsewhere, having legal jurisdiction, to have a com-
mon seal, and the same at pleasure to alter, break
or renew, and to do all acts necessary and lawful
for carrying into effect the object of this incor-
poration,
