RESOLUTIONS. 377

Resolved, That the two Houses of the General
Assembly congratulate Governor Hicks that his
term, of office closes so honorably to himself and
with so elevated an exam pie to his successors.

Resolved, That a copy of these resolutions,
signed by the President of the Senate and the
Speaker of the House of Delegates, be by them
presented to Governor Hicks.

No. 20.

 

Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the Comptroller be and he is hereby re-
quired and directed, thirty days after the pas-
sage of this resolution, to cause suits to be insti-
tuted against all clerks, registers, notaries pub-
lic, auctioneers, foreign insurance agents, col-
lectors of tax, sheriffs, and all persons on any
account whatsoever indebted to the' State, for
such sums as are now due to the State from the
said parties respectively, and which shall remain
unpaid at the end of said thirty days, and that
the said Comptroller at the same time cause to be
instituted suits for all penalties that have been
incurred by the non-compliance, on the part of
any persons whatsoever, with any of the revenue
laws of this State; and where bonds have been
given by any of said persons hereby directed to be
sued, the said Comptroller is hereby directed to
cause suit to be brought on said bonds at the ex-
piration of said thirty days ; but nothing herein
contained shall be construed to prevent the said
Comptroller from bridging any suit before the
expiration of said thirty days, if in his judgment
the interest of the State should so require.
