weeks, previous to said meeting, in two of the
daily newspapers of the city of Baltimore, of the
time and place of such general meeting, and at
any such meeting, the votes shall be given as in
the manner of electing Directors, and a majority
of the stock, represented at said meeting, shall
have the power of closing and winding up the con-
cerns of said company.

Construction.
|
Sec. 9. And be it enacted, That nothing in this
act contained shall be construed to restrict the
right of the Legislature, which is hereby reserved
in its fullest extent, to impose from time to time,
and at all times hereafter, such reasonable tax, by
license or otherwise, upon all steamboats, vessels,
or other property, estate or funds, in which the
capital stock of the said company shall be invested,
in common with similar steamboats, vessels, pro-
perty, estate or funds, of any other company, cor-
poration or individual of this State.

AN ACT to amend section one of Article fifty-six
of the Code of Public General Laws, entitled,
"Licenses," relating to the issuing of Licenses
by Clerks of Courts.

Amended.
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That section one of Article fifty-
six of the Code of Public General Laws, entitled,
''Licenses," be amended and re-enacted so as to
read as follows : .

1. All licenses shall be granted by the Clerks of
the Circuit Courts of the counties and the Clerk of
the Court of Common Pleas in the city of Balti-
more, except where a different mode is specially
provided, and all licenses granted by the said
Clerks shall expire on the first day of May next
thereafter, except Licenses for Fisheries and Horse
Races ; and if granted for part of a year, a rateable
sum shall be charged therefor.
