SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the following be added as a
section to the thirteen Article of the Code of Pub-
lic Local Laws, in relation to the duties of Trus-
tees of Primary Schools in Howard county, to be
inserted between the seventy-third and seventy-
fourth sections :

That it shall be the duty of the Trustees of each
Primary School in Howard county, to have a pub-
lic examination of the scholars of such school at
the school house, at least once in every year, which
examination shall be attended by the said trustees,
and the progress of said scholars as evinced by said
examination, shall be reported to the Inspectors of
Primary Schools, to aid such inspectors in forming
an opinion of the qualifications of the teachers of
said schools, and the trustees shall report the fact
that said examination has been held, to the Com-
missioners of said county, as preliminary to draw-
ing any money for the said school.
