Oath of offi
cers.

Sec. 24. The President of said Commissioners,
and all other officers of said town, shall before
they enter upon the duties of their respective offi-
ces, severally take the following oath : I do
solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the
office of ———— to the best of my knowledge and
ability, without favor, affection or partiality.

Sec. 25. The President of the said Commissioners
shall, in virtue of his office, have and exercise
within the limits of said town, all the jurisdiction
and power of a Justice of the Peace, except as to
the recovery of small debts; he may call on an offi-
cer of the village entrusted with the receipt and
expenditure of public money, for a statement of
his accounts as often as he shall see proper; he
shall see that the ordinances are faithfully execu-
ted, and report to the Board of Commissioners, at
their stated meetings, the general state of the vil-
lage, and may call special meetings of the Com-
missioners whenever he may see proper.

for repair of
streets.

Sec. 26. The County Commissioners of Cecil
county may, at discretion, levy annually upon the
assessable property of the county, twenty-five dol-
lars, and pay over to the Commissioners, to aid in
keeping the streets of said village, as part of the
public roads, in good repair.

successors are
elected.

Sec. 27. If the inhabitants of said village at
any time neglect to make an election as herein di-
rected, the power of electing Commissioners shall
not thereupon cease, but shall continue as though
such election had been made, and the President
and Commissioners, for the time being, shall re-
main in office until such annual election shall be
held.
