Sec. 14. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 384.

 

AN ACT to amend the four hundred and twenti-
eth, and four hundred and twenty-second sec-
tions of Article four of the Code of Public Local
Laws, entitled, City of Baltimore, relating to
the weighing of Hay, Straw, &c.

SECTION 1: Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the four hundred and twen-
tieth, and four hundred and twenty-second sec-
tions of the fourth Article of the Code of Public
Local Laws; are hereby amended and re-enacted,
so as to read as follows:

420. One of the scales or apparatus for weigh-
ing shall be placed in the Western section of the
city, and the other in the Eastern, but the Gov-
ernor may upon petition, change the location of
either, whenever and as. often as' he may deem pro-
per, at the expense of the State; and whereas, it
has become necessary for public conyenience to re-
move the scales now placed in the Western section
of the city, in consequence of the great interrup-
tion of business and inconvenience caused by the
accumulation of vehicles in the streets, the Gover-
nor is hereby authorized and requested to select,
and commission three discreet persons, two of
them residents of Baltimore city and one a resi-
dent of Baltimore county, whose duty it shall be
to sell the lot of ground and premises situate at
the intersection of Franklin street and Pennsylva-
nia avenue, now occupied by the State's Scales,
and with the consent and approbation of the Gov-
ernor, to purchase a lot of sufficient size, nearer
