take effect immediately on its passage.

CHAPTER 374.

AN ACT making appropriations for the support
of the Government for the year ending on the
first day of January, eighteen hundred and six-
ty-six.

ing 1st of Jan-
uary, 1864.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That for the expenditures in the slip-
port of the Government for the year ending on the
first day of January, eighteen hundred and sixty-
six, the following sums of money, or so much
thereof as may be necessary, be and the same
hereby is appropriated, that is to say :

STATE OFFICERS.

Sums appro-
priated.

For the salary of the Governor of Maryland,
three thousand six hundred dollars; for the salary
of the Secretary of State, one thousand dollars ;
for the salary of the Comptroller of the Treasury
Department, two thousand five hundred dollars ;
for the salary of the Chief Clerk to the Comptrol-
ler, fifteen hundred dollars; for the salary of the
Assistant Clerk to the Comptroller, one thousand
dollars; for the salary of the Treasurer, two thou-
sand five hundred dollars; for the salary of the
Clerk to the Treasurer, fifteen hundred dollars ;
for the salary of the Private Secretary to the Gov-
ernor, eight hundred dollars; for the salary of the
Commissioner of the Land Office, seven hundred
and fifty dollars, including compensation for keep-
ing Chancery Records; for the salary of the Libra-
rian, one thousand dollars; to the Commissioners
