Salaries to be
paid monthly.

470. He shall, from and after the first day of
May next, receive an annual salary of two thousand
dollars per annum; and all the salaries shall be
payable monthly out of any moneys received by
the Weighmaster for the use of the State.

Sections
added.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the following sections relating
to the use of the State Cattle Scales shall be added
to Article four of the Code of Public Local Laws,
entitled, "City of Baltimore," and be arranged
under the head of Live Stock in said Article.

Police Com-
missioners in-
vested with
authority.

474. The Police Commissioners of Baltimore
city shall have and exercise the like powers and
authority over and within the premises, composing
the State Cattle Scales, the pens, yards, alleys,
scales and appurtenances, as if the said premises
were really situated within the boundaries of Bal-
timore city.

Grounds may
be enlarged.
|
475. The Weighmaster of Live Stock may en-
large the grounds now provided for the weighing
live stock, and may for that purpose, purchase in
the name and on behalf of the State, such addi-
tional extent of grounds as the public wants may,
in his judgment, require; and may, if he deems it
expedient, sell or exchange for the benefit of the
State, such portions of the ground now belonging

to the State, and purchase for said purpose; pro-
vided, that no such sale or purchase shall be valid
or effectual, unless and until the same shall have
been approved by the Governor and Comptroller,
nor shall the purchase money, in case of such pur-
chase, or any part thereof, be paid until the Gov-
ernor and Comptroller shall be satisfied as to the
sufficiency of the title or titles of the vender or
vendors, and shall sign a certificate to that effect,
to be filed in the office of the Comptroller; and in
case of any such purchase, the purchase money
therefore shall be paid out of any money; in the
Treasury not otherwise appropriated, upon the
execution and delivery of a conveyance therefor;
and in case of such sale, the purchase money there-
fore shall be paid to the Comptroller; and upon
such payment, the Comptroller, on behalf of the
