CHAPTER 304.

Passed March
8, 1864.

AN ACT to authorize and empower Levin L.
Keene, of Dorchester county, to build a dam
across Keene's ditch or creek, between Lake's
and Hooper's island districts, in said county,
and to erect a tide mill thereat.

Authorized
to build dam.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That Levin L. Keene, of Dorchester,
be and he is hereby fully authorized and empow-
ered to build a dam across Keene's ditch or creek,
between Lake's and Hooper's island districts, in
said county, and to erect a tide mill thereat, and
to hold and enjoy said dam and mills as his own
property aud estate.

In force.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from and after the date of its passage.

 

CHAPTER 305.

Passed Mar.
9, 1864.

AN ACT to incorporate the Union Coal Oil and
Gas Company.

Incorporated.

SECTION 1 . Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That Thomas G. McCulloh, John
Hawartti, Nelson Beall, Eblen Seccomb, James L.
Graham and Henry H. Porter, and such other
persons as may be associated with them hereafter
in the manner herein provided, shall be and they
are hereby incorporated and made a body politic
and corporate by the name of the Union Coal Oil
and Gas Company, and by that name shall have
succession, and be able aud capable to sue and be
sued, to plead and be impleaded in any court of
law or equity, and may have and use a common
seal, and the same to alter and renew at pleasure,
and may also have and use all the powers, priv-
