Proviso.

and fifty-eight and eighteen hundred and fifty-
nine, be and they are hereby released from the
payment of interest on said taxes; provided, that
on or before the first day of January, eighteen
hundred and sixty-five, the sureties pay into the
Treasury the amount of the principal sum of said
taxes, as ascertained by the Comptroller of the
Treasury to be due the State.

In force.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 267.

AN ACT to provide for a State subscription to
Wingate's Maryland Register for eighteen hun-
dred and sixty-four and eighteen hundred and
sixty-five.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the State Librarian be and he
is hereby authorized and directed to subscribe for
one hundred copies of the Maryland Register for
eighteen hundred and sixty-four and eighteen
hundred and sixty-five, when published by James
Wingate, at four dollars per copy; and that upon
the delivery of said books to the State Library,
the Comptroller is hereby authorized to issue his
warrant to the Treasurer to pay said James Win-
gate for the said Maryland Register at the rate of
four dollars per copy.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, that fifty copies of
said Maryland Register shall be distributed by the
State Librarian among the different officers of this
State in the various counties and the city of Balti-
more.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from and after the date of its passage.
