cating the execution of such commission; and the
answer of every infant so taken in any case, when
returned to the court issuing the commission, shall
be as effectual as if taken under a commission duly
executed within the jurisdiction of such court.

CHAPTER 90.

 

AN ACT to add new sections to Article eighty-
four of the Code of Public General Laws enti-
tled " Schools," giving assent to the provisions
of the act of Congress donating lands to the
several States and Territories, for the benefit of
agriculture and the mechanic arts.

17, 1864.

SECTION 1 . Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the following sections, relating
to colleges, for the benefit of agriculture and the
mechanic arts, be added to the Article "Schools,"
of the Code of Public General Laws entitled, "An
act assenting to the provisions of the act of Con-
gress donating lands to the several States and Ter-
ritories for the benefit of education."

17. The State of Maryland hereby declares its
acceptance of the provisions of an act passed by the
Congress of the United States, entitled, "An act
donating public lands to the several States and
Territories which may provide colleges for the
benefit of agriculture and mechanic arts," approved
July the second, eighteen hundred and sixty-two ;
and the Governor is hereby authorized to give
such notice of the said acceptance as may be proper.

Acceptance.

18. The Comptroller of the Treasury is hereby
authorized to receive from the proper authorities of
the United States, the land scrip to be issued for
the lands granted to this State by the said act of
Congress, and to give all necessary receipts and
acknowledgments for the scrip which may be re-
ceived by him.
