recorded in said office, as the public convenience
may require, and shall be entitled to demand and
receive from the party from whom the service is
performed, ten cents for each will or other matter
entered therein; and it shall be his duty to enter
in said general alphabet or index, all such wills
or other matters as have not been entered in said
index up. to the beginning of tbe term of the pre-
sent incumbent of said office, and shall be entitled
to receive therefor the said sum of ten cents for
each: entry on said index.

Sec. 2. Be it further enacted, That the County
Commissioners for Baltimore county, be and are
hereby authorized and directed to levy for and pay
over said amount to the Register of Wills of Bal-
timore county, upon the certificate of the Judges
of the Orphans' Court that said services have been
properly performed.

CHAPTER 119.

AN ACT to amend the act passed on the tenth
day of March eighteen hundred and sixty-two,
chapter two hundred and fifty-one, conferring
certain powers on the Mayor and City Council
of Baltimore in relation to levying and collect-
ing taxes for the purpose of defraying the ex-
penses of the municipal government, so as more
clearly te exempt certain property from taxa-
tion for such purposes.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the act of eighteen hundred
and sixty-two, chapter two hundred and fifty-one
be amended and re-enacted so as to read as fol-
lows:
