M. till 6 P. M. Sum- mer from 6i A. M. till 7 P. M. On Sundays from 9 till 10 A. M. and one hour after the eastern mail is assorted in the afternoon. Under present arrangements the office is open also from 7 to 7? P. M. for delivery of the Evening Mails. Persons who have private boxes, or with whom the carriers keep monthly accounts, wishing to pay postage after the office is closed, can do so by put- ting a slip of paper round their letters, requesting to be charged. Norfolk Mail arrives on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday morning about 8 A. M., and closes OB Mon- day, Wednesday and Friday at 3 P. M. Winter ar- rangement. Summer, daily, except Sunday. BATES OF POSTAGE. All distances under 30 miles, 6 cents — over 30 and under 80, 10 cents — over 80, and under 150, 12| cents — over 150, and under 400, 18 1/4 cents — over 400. 25 cents. Letters consisting of 2 pieces, dou- ble — 3 pieces, treble — 4 pieces, or one piece, if it weighs an ounce, quadruple the foregoing rates.
