PREMIUM

Agricultural

IMPLEMENTS.

The Maryland State
Agricultural Society

HAVE AWARDED

E. WHITMAN & CO.

FIRST PREMIUMS amounting to about FIVE HUNDRED DOL-
LARS for the LARGEST DISPLAYS of the BEST MADE, STRONG-
EST AND MOST USEFUL AGRICULTURAL IMPLEMENTS, ex-
hibited at their several Annual Fairs, in 1848, 1849 and 1851, being
more than double the amount received in Premiums, at the same Fairs, by
any other Agricultural House.

We mention the above facts, that those who wish to purchase SUPERIOR
Implements may know what kind, and whose make are considered the
Best, Strongest and most Useful at home, where they are manufactured
and known. These Fairs were the largest ever held in this country.
Small County Fairs, have been held in various parts of our State, where
there was little or no competition, and regarding such Premiums of little
value, we do not publish them. Those who intend purchasing Premium
Implements, should be CAUTIOUS, and first ascertain at what Fairs the
Premiums were awarded, as some manufacturers whose machinery is con-
sidered 2d and 3d best at our State Fairs, receive premiums at County
Fairs and Publish them without stating at what Fairs they were received,
and in this way persons may be deceived, and PREMIUM IMPLEMENTS
brought into disrepute.
