SUSPENSION OF SPECIE PAYMENTS— See

   

Banks.

   

SOMERSET COUNTY— The interest arising from

   

any school funds apportioned by the

   

State to, or any such funds as may

   

belong to said county, to be paid di-

   

rectly to the treasurer of the board

   

of school commissioners, and the

   

balance necessary for the support of

   

public education, beyond any fees

   

for tuition, &c., to be levied and

   

collected by taxation upon the as-

   

sessable property of said county, in

   

the same manner that other taxes

   

are levied and collected, which sums,

   

when so collected, to be paid over to

   

the said treasurer,

There shall not be levied or collected,

   

in any one year, more than twenty-

   

four cents in every hundred dollars;

   

but a special tax may be imposed

   

upon any school district, if a major-

   

ity of the tax payers in said school

   

district shall so petition the County

   

Commissioners,

In addition to the constables heretofore

   

authorized by law, in the election

   

district in Somerset county wherein

   

the town of Princess Anne is situ-

   

ated, one additional constable to be

   

appointed by the Commissioners of

   

the County, to hold his office until

   

the next regular election in this

   

State; and an additional constable

   

shall then and thereafter be elected

   

as other constables are elected,

Said additional constable to be a resi-

   

dent of the town of Princess Anne,

   

and to be his special duty, in addi-

   

tion to the ordinary duties of a con-

   

stable, to enforce the laws relating

   

to free negroes and slaves within the

   

limits of said town,
