JAMES HUGHLETT CARTER

JAMES HUGHLETT CARTER

Born September 17, 1894, at what
was then known as Ivy Mills, Balti-
more County, Maryland, but which
now comprises a portion of the cam-
pus of Morgan College.

Educated in the public schools of
Baltimore, he graduated from the old
Baltimore Colored High School and
entered Morgan College in the fall of
1912. Upon completion of his college
course in 1916, Mr. Carter was ap-
pointed private secretary to President
Spencer.

During e period of twenty-one years
with Morgan College he has success-
fully filled the posts of instructor,
secretary, registrar, business man-
ager—and at the last annual meeting
of the College Trustees was named
assistant to the President.

He is married and resides on the
school grounds. Is a member of
Omega Psi Fraternity and of Pi
Lambda Psi Honor Society.
