PROF. MASON A, HAWKINS

PRINCIPAL MASON A. HAWKINS

Mr. Hawkins has been connected with
the Baltimore City Public Schools since
1901.

During the early years he taught
Latin, German and Economics. He in-
structed the training class in psychol-
ogy. He also taught in the elementary
night school; and organized the first
evening high school; and the first high
school summer course.

He served successively as teacher,
head of department, vice principal and

principal.

He was special lecturer for the Y. M.
C. A, Institute for several years ; gave
summer courses in education at the
Bowie Normal School, in Maryland, at
Morgan College and at Wilberforce Uni-
versity.

He has been active in church work
and in institutions for the social good.

He is an alumnus of Harvard and
Columbia Universities and a member of
the graduate school of the University
of Pennsylvania. He has contributed
articles to papers and magazines and
has received patent rights upon several
inventions.

In training, experience and successful
school administration. Mr. Hawkins
ranks among the foremost educators of
the race.
