Organized May 31st, 1915, by Rev. C. Ed. Browne

The congregation purchased the three-story brick building, corner Orleans and
Ann Streets, where services were held until March, 1919, when the present church
property, corner Bond and Jefferson Streets, with parsonage adjoining, was se-
cured from the Jefferson Street M. E. Congregation (white) at the cost of fifteen
thousand seven hundred dollars ($15,700). Mr. Harry O. Wilson, Banker, accepted
a mortgage for eleven thousand dollars ($11,000), which was lifted June, 1920, thus
liquidating the entire indebtedness within fifteen months.
