The Maryland Association for Colored Blind

OBJECT

The Maryland Association for Colored Blind was organized Oct. 15.
1915, for the purpose of advancing the moral, religious, social and in-
dustrial development of Colored Adult Blind and to extend to them
sympathy and brotherhood.

WHAT WE ARE DOING

1. Any blind gentleman may secure membership to the Y. M. C. A.
with all the privileges free upon application.

2. Any blind lady may secure membership to the Y. W. C. A. with
all privileges free upon application.

3. Secure the Medical Attention of Doctors Wheatley. Brown, Haw-
kins. Chissell and Hall at one-half price.

4. Prescriptions filled at any Colored Drug Store at one-half price.

5. All blind persns that are unable to meet these requirements or
any part thereof, the attending Physician will make a report of the
same and the bill be paid by the Association.

6. An Annual Excursion during the month of August jointly with
the Y. M. C. A.

7. The teaching of blind gentlemen Automobile repairing at the
Colored High School, and other industry that may develop.

8. The Association encourages colored enterprises to employ blind
labor wherever it may be possible. We encouraged a blind man to sell
the Afro-American Paper, who is making: a success.

S. We encourage blind men to do any kind of tangible stationary
work, such as telephone operating, shoe shining, newspaper folding,
laundry, agency, book agency, bundle wrapping, packing, broom, whist-
broom, hair brush, tooth brush agency and scientific art of Chiropractic
and many other arts yet to be developed,

10. We are aiming to bring the blind and seeing in close contact
with one another and to instruct the general public in the methods of
courtesy and to abolish that spirit of timidity that is so often displayed
and encourage self reliance among the blind.

11. Contribution check for $20.00, sent to the Maryland work-shop
for Blind Soldiers.

12. We aim to protect the interests of the Blind.

13. Dr. O. H. Arnold and Dr. L. H. Mayer, Dentists, will do dental
work at cost price, and will extract teeth free.
