HENRY RUFUS OLEY.

The subject of this sketch was born in Thomasville, Mo., more
than fifty years ago; entered the United States Army at 17 years
of age, (the old Tenth Cavalry) served nearly fourteen years in
same, then five years in the Twenty-fourth Infantry, and in 1901
was appointed a Post Quartermaster Sergeant, United States Army;
was in Geronimo's Campaign (Indian) in 1885-6 in Arizona and
New Mexico; was in Spanish-American War in 1898 with the
Twenty-fourth Infantry at "San Juan," in Cuba; in the Philippine
Insurrection with the Twenty-fourth Infantry in the Island of Lu-
zon, Philippine Islands, in 1899-90, was never wounded; at present
is Military Store Keeper at Canton Warehouse.
