CARRINGTON L. DAVIS.
Carrington L. Davis was born at Chattolanee, Green Spring Val-
ley, Baltimore County, Md., August 27, 1879. Having received his
early education in the public schools of Baltimore County, he earned
his A. B. degrees from Morgan College and Harvard University,
and has pursued courses leading to the Degree of Master of Arts
at Columbia University. Mr. Davis served, creditably, as Head of
the Department of Greek, in Morgan College, from 1904 to 1907,
from which position he resigned to accept a teachership of Latin
and German in the local High School. Here, his work was of such
an efficient character that he was made Head of the Department of
Foreign Languages. In 1917, he was made Vice-Principal.
Mr. Davis is interested in all movements for the public good, but,
being a thorough student, naturally things of a classical or cultural
nature would most appeal to him. He is a member of the Harvard
Classical Club, the Classical Association of the United States and
Maryland, and President of the local Booklovers Club. He has
written several pamphlets, some of which are:
"Transformation in Educational Ideals."
"The Negro in American Literature."
"An Interpretation of Faust for Everyday Life." and
"The Negro and the European War."
