Rev. CHARLES RANDOLPH UNCLES

Rev. Charles Randolph Uncles was the first colored Catholic
priest to be ordained in this country. His twenty-fifth anniversary
as a priest was recently celebrated, Protestants and Catholice vie-
ing with each other in honoring him, A substantial purse was pre-
sented to him of $700.00.

Father Uncles is a natice of Baltimore and at one time taught
school in Baltimore County. He decided to become a Catholic
priest, and entered St. Hyacinth's College, Canada. He was edu-
cated for the priesthood at St. Mary's Seminary, this city. He is at
present an instructor in Epiphany Apostolic College, Baltimore.
