A FRIEND OF THE RACE

PRESIDENT J. O. SPENCER, PH. D.

In an article which appeared in many of our papers, the Dean of
Morgan College gives the following estimate of President Spencer's
work for colored people:

"Fortunately for President Spencer and for the work at Baltimore
ne had large experience in education and in working among col-
ored races before he came to Morgan. He served in Japan
and in some of the best institutions of America. Fifteen years of
hard and painstaking work at Morgan College have given him
thorough knowledge of conditions and a firm grasp on the situation
He knows the people of the four Conferences, two white and two col-
ored, and he knows Morgan College and its needs."

Dr. Spencer has also done much to improve the education of col-
ored people in Maryland outside of Morgan College.
