HON. ALBERT ADAMS.
Councilman J. Albert Adams, of Ann-
apolis, whose portrait accompanies this
sketch, to a native of Maryland, having
been born at West River in 1872. He
attended the County schools, but preferred
trade and business to a college education.
At an early date he formed a partnership
with his father, under the Arm name of
"George Adams and Son," and for many
years, they successfully conducted the
business of blacksmithing, wheelwrighting
and undertaking. In 1800 he sold out his
interest in the hostness to an elder
brother and settled in Annapolis, where be
successfully combined and operated the
undertaking and livery business. Subse-
quently, be constructed a handsome hotel,
which be now operates with (be real es-
tate business. In 1907, Mr. Adams wan
nominated and elected to the City Council
of Annapolis, and served the full term of
two years. The disfranchisement meas-
ure, as applied to Annapolis, having; ren-
dered migratory the colored vote of that
city, he dropped out of political life until
the Supreme Court of the United States
dealt that inquisitions measure its death
blow. In 1915, however, he was again a
candidate for the City Council, and had
as his opponent In the primaries Lawyer
William H. Howard. Mr. Adams easily
