226. Any person who shall so employ a child or suffer or
permit such employment shall be guilty of misdemeanor and
upon conviction shall be fined not less than one hundred dol-
lars; one-half of which shall be paid to the Maryland State
Bureau of Statistics and Information, which is hereby invested
with the general duty and power of enforcing this law.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 46.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Sections 259
and 260 of Article 27 of the Code of Public General Laws
of Maryland of 1904, title "Crimes and Punishments," sub-
title "Kidnapping."

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Sections 259 and 260 of Article 27 of the Code of
Public General Laws of Maryland of 1904, title "Crimes and
Punishments," subtitle "Kidnapping," be and the same are
hereby repealed and re-enacted with amendments so as to read
as follows:

259. Every person, his counsellors, aiders or abettors, who
shall be convicted of the crime of kidnapping and forcibly or
fraudulently carrying or causing to be carried out of this
State any person with intent to have such person carried out
of this State, shall be sentenced to the penitentiary for not
more than twenty-one years.

260. Every person, his counsellors, aiders or abettors, who
shall be convicted of kidnapping and forcibly or fraudulently
stealing, taking or carrying away any child under the age of
sixteen years shall be sentenced to the penitentiary for not
more than twenty-one years.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.
