also serve as vaccine physicians for their respective districts,
and it shall be their duty to vaccinate free of charge any child
whose guardian or parents are too poor to pay for the service.
It shall further be the duty of said District Health Officers to
examine into the sanitary condition of all highways, alleys and
by-ways in their respective districts, and if the same are found
to be in an unsanitary condition, to report such fact imme-
diately to the County Health Officer. They shall also examine
all primary school children's eyes once a year for refractional
and focal difficulties, and cause the parents or guardians of
children whose eyes are defective to be so informed. They
shall examine all exposed parts of all school children at least
once a term, or oftener, if requested by the teacher, for con-
tagious skin diseases, and such children, together with those
whom the teacher shall show to have parasites, shall be ex-
cluded from school until they can furnish a certificate from a
regularly qualified physician that they are rid of trouble.
They shall also act as coroners of their respective districts and
examine indigent insane when requested by a Justice of the
Peace, the Health Officer or the County Commissioners.

SEC. 45i. If any person shall knowingly obstruct or resist
the County Health Officer, or any of the District Health Offi-
cers of Howard County in the executions of the powers to them
given, or in the performance of the duties enjoined upon them
by law in relation to the public health, such person shall be
deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and, upon conviction thereof,
shall be fined not less than five dollars, nor more than one
hundred dollars, or be imprisoned, in the discretion of the
Court, for not more than thirty days.

SEC. 45j. It shall be the duty of the Sheriff or Police Officer
of Howard County to execute all orders of any of the county
health authorities, so far as they relate to the sanitary condi-
tion of said county.

SEC. 45k. Such Local Board of Health shall take cogni-
zance of all unhealthy nuisances within the limits of Howard
County, and any person or corporation refusing or neglecting
after reasonable notice to comply with the requirements of
such board in respect to such nuisance shall be liable to a pen-
alty not exceeding fifty dollars. If the owner or owners, occu-
pier or occupiers of property on which any such nuisance
exists, shall refuse or neglect to abate the same after such rea-
sonable notice, the County Health Officer, after the expiration
of the time set out in such notice, shall remove the said nui-
sance, or cause of said nuisance, at the expense of said owner
or owners, occupier or occupiers; and the cost of removing
said nuisance or cause of said nuisance may be recovered by
