SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take

HOWARD COUNTY.
CHAPTER 566.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section 51,
52, 54, 55, 56, 56B and 56F of Article 14 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland, title "Howard County," subtitle
"Ellicott City," as enacted by Chapter 419 of the Acts of
1908 of the General Assembly of Maryland, and to repeal and
re-enact with amendments Section 61, 69, 70, 71 and 78 of
said Article 14 of the Public Local Laws of Maryland, title
"Howard County," subtitle "Ellicott City," and to add three
new sections to said Article 14 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland, title "Howard County," subtitle "Elli-
cott City," to be known as Sections 7lA, 71B, 71c.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 51, 52, 54, 55, 56, 56B and 56F of Article 14
of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Howard
County," subtitle "Ellicott City," as enacted by Chapter 419
of the Acts of 1908 of the General Assembly of Maryland, be
and the same are hereby repealed and re-enacted, and Section
61, 69, 70, 71 and 78 of said Article of the Public Local
Laws of Maryland, title "Howard County," subtitle "Ellicott
City," be and the same are hereby repealed and re-enacted, and
to add three new sections to said Article 14 of the Code of Pub-
lic Local Laws of Maryland, title "Howard County," subtitle
"Ellicott City," to come in after Section 71 and to be known as
Sections 7lA, 71B and 71c, and said respective sections to read
as follows:
51. The Mayor and City Council of Ellicott City shall, be-
fore the first day of January previous to each municipal elec-
tion, appoint one person, a resident voter of said city, officer of
registration of Ellicott City, who shall hold office for four years
from the date of his appointment and until his successor is duly
appointed and qualified. Said officer of registration shall qual-
ify by taking the usual oath of office before a Justice of the
