718 LAWS OF MARYLAND.

bailiff aforesaid, shall, directly or indirectly, furnish teams,
carts or wagons for the use of said corporation during the
term for which he may be appointed.

153. The County Commissioners shall be relieved from the
care of the roads, streets and alleys within the corporate limits
of the town of Elkton, and the care of the same shall be trans-
ferred to the President and Commissioners of the town of
Elkton, and in consideration of said transfer and the keeping
of. said roads, streets and alleys within the said corporate
limits in good condition and repair by the said President and
Commissioners, and the fact that valuable county property is
situated within said town, exempt from all town taxes, but
receiving the protection and benefit of the town government,
the said County Commissioners of Cecil County shall annually
levy for and pay over to the President and Commissioners of
said town a sum of not less than one thousand dollars, to be
applied towards defraying the expenses of administering the
town government.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 359.

AN ACT to repeal Sections 120 and 121 of Article 8 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Cecil County,"
sub-title "County Treasurer," and to re-enact the same with
amendments.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Sections 120 and 121 of Article 8 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Cecil County," sub-title
"County Treasurer," be and the same are hereby repealed and
re-enacted with amendments so as to read as follows:

SEC. 120. It shall be the duty of the Treasurer of Cecil
county in each and every year, as soon as the annual levy is
made, to give public notice thereof by advertisement in not less
than two newspapers published in said county, and said levy
shall be due and payable on the first day of September of the
year in which it is made, and in the month of August the treas-
urer shall sit for two days at the principal town in each elec
tion district for the purpose of receiving taxes, due notice of
which shall be given by him, and he shall report to the County
Commissioners at their regular meeting on the second Tuesday
in each month, the amount of taxes of all kinds received by
