ney may in every such case, before the trial begins, prepare
and file in the same on information or charge in the nature of
an indictment, and the case shall be tried thereunder; and if
any person or persons be charged as the member of any firm,
or as the directors and managers of any corporation, and
shall deny that they are members of such firm, or are direct-
ors, trustees or managers of such corporation, they shall be
required to sustain such denial by evidence.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 520.

AN ACT to add three new sections to Article 6 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland, entitled "Caroline County,"
new sub-title "Lien of Livery Stable Keepers," to be known
as Sections 192x, 192y and 192z, for the purpose of creating
a lien on any horse, mare, gelding, mule, cattle or vehicle
left at any livery stable in Caroline county.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That three new Sections, to be known as Sections 192x,
192 Y and 192z. of Article 6 of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland, title "Caroline County," new sub-title "Lien of
Livery Stable Keepers," be enacted to read as follows:

SEC. 192x. Any person keeping any horse, mare, gelding,
mule, cattle or vehicle at livery in Caroline county under his
care may retain the same in his custody until all charges for
so keeping shall be paid by the owner.

SEC. 192y. Any person keeping any horse, mare, gelding,
mule, cattle or vehicle at livery in said county may state an
account for keeping said horse, mare, gelding, mule, cattle or
vehicle and prove the same before any justice of the peace for
said county and said justice being satisfied by proof of de-
mand, refusal or neglect to pay on the part of the owner, shall
thereupon issue his warrant authorizing the sale of such horse,
mare, gelding, mule, cattle or vehicle/

SEC. 192z. And upon receiving such warrant the said keeper
may sell such horse, mare, gelding, mule, cattle or vehicle at
public auction in some public place in said county after giv-
ing ten days' notice in one paper in Caroline county and hand
bills set up in the vicinity of such sale of the time, place and
manner of sale, and after deducting the amount due for keep-
ing and all expenses and costs of said sale shall pay the sur-
plus, if any, to the owner.
