purpose; and should said County Commissioners, County
Treasurer, or any other person having charge of said sinking
funds, suffer the same to be diverted or applied to any other
purpose than the purchase or redemption of the said bonds, he
or they individually shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor,
and upon conviction before a Court of competent jurisdiction,
shall be fined in an amount equal to the sum diverted, and
shall be committed to the county jail until said fine and all
costs are paid.

SEC. 6. And be it further enacted, That the bonds issued
under the authority of this Act shall be designated as "Bonds
for the Permanent Improvement of the Public Roads and
Bridges in Caroline County," and the money- arising from the
sale of these bonds shall be paid to the joint order of the Presi
dent of the Board of Commissioners of Caroline County and
the County Treasurer thereof, and shall be deposited by the
County Treasurer separately from the other funds belonging
to Caroline County, and so that the same shall be paid out
only on the check of the County Treasurer, countersigned by
the President of the Board of County Commissioners, and
neither said funds, nor any part thereof, shall be used for any
other purpose than those designated in this Act, under the
pains and penalties provided in the preceding section of this
Act.

SEC. 7. And be it further enacted, That all the work done
upon any of the public roads and bridges under this Act, ex-
cept such as shall be built under the law known as the "Shoe-
maker Law," shall be done under the direct supervision and
control of the County Road Engineer, except the designation
of the particular road or bridges to be rebuilt or repaired,
which shall be selected and designated by the County Commis-
sioners, subject to the approval of the County Roads Engineer.

SEC. 8. And be it further enacted, That the Clerk of the
County Commissioners be and he is hereby directed to pro-
cure a suitable book, to be designated the "Bond Book," in
which he shall make and afterward keep a complete record
of all the bonds issued under this Act, and of all other county
bonds now or hereafter issued; showing the Act under which
said bonds are issued, the amounts and dates of the same, the
rate of interest they bear, the date of maturity and the pur-
chaser or purchasers thereof, and when paid, and how and to
whom the same were paid.

SEC. 9. And be it further enacted^ That all bonds issued
under the authority conferred by this Act shall be forever
exempt from all county and municipal taxation in Caroline
County.
