prescribed by law in respect to his or their said ordinary
duties and powers of a similar nature.

SEC. 6. And be it further enacted, That except in so far as
provision is otherwise made in Section 3 hereof, with respect
to the function of renting, leasing and hiring out conferred
upon the Board of Estimates, and in Section 4 hereof, ,with
respect to condemnation in connection with streets, avenues,
lanes and alleys, or parts thereof, and in Section 5 hereof,
each and all of the rights and powers hereby conferred shall be
exercised, and the work herein provided for shall be executed
by the Harbor Board of Baltimore City, or by any other
department, sub-department, board, commission, official or
officials, in which or in whom the powers and duties now exer-
cised by said Harbor Board may hereafter be vested, subject,
however, to the authorization and approval of the Board of
Estimates as aforesaid.

SEC. 7. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 391.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section 756 of
the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Baltimore
City," subtitle "Police," as repealed and re-enacted by Chap-
ter 494 of the Acts of 1898, as repealed and re-enacted by
Chapter 233 of the Acts of 1900, as repealed and re-enacted
by Chapter 81 of the Acts of 1902.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Chapter 81 of the Acts of the General Assembly of
Maryland passed in 1902, repealing Chapter 233 of the Acts of
1900, which repealed Chapter 494 of the Acts of 1898, to repeal
Section 756 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland,
title "Baltimore City," subtitle "Police," be and the same is
hereby repealed and re-enacted with amendments so as to read
as follows:

SEC. 756. In addition to the sums of money now authorized
by law to be paid out of the fund so as above constituted and
designated, the said Board of Police Commissioners are em-
powered whenever, in their opinion, the efficiency of the service
may require it, to retire any officer of police, policeman, detec-
tive, clerk or turnkey appointed by them; and the said Board
of Police Commissioners shall pay to such officer of police,
policeman, detective, clerk or turnkey so retired, in monthly
