CHAPTER 337.

AN ACT to further protect partridges or quail, English pheas-
ants or pheasants or ruffed grouse, ortolan, doves, woodcock,
jacksnipe and squirrels, rabbits, wild turkeys and deer in this
State, and to prevent the rapid extermination of such birds
and animals during the open season by providing the maxi-
mum number which can be legally killed by one person in
any one day.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That it shall be unlawful for one person to kill more
than fifteen partridges (quail) in any one day, or more than
six pheasants (ruffed grouse) in any one day, or more than
three English pheasants in any one day, or more than fifty
ortolan or rail on any one tide, or more than twenty-five doves
in any one day, or more than twelve woodcock in any one day,
or more than twelve rabbits in any one day, or more than
twelve squirrels in any one day, or more than twelve jacksnipe
in any one day, or more than two wild turkeys in any one day,
or more than one deer in a season, when it shall be lawful to
shoot said birds or animals.

SEC. 2. Any person violating the provisions of this Act shall
be guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof shall
be fined in the sum of five dollars for each and every partridge,
pheasant, or ruffed grouse, English pheasant, dove, woodcock,
jacksnipe, rabbit or squirrel, and the sum of fifty dollars for
each wild turkey, and one hundred dollars for each deer so
killed in excess of the limits herein mentioned, and shall stand
committed to the county jail, if said fine is not paid, for one
day for each dollar of fine imposed, but not for a period of
more than sixty days; any Deputy Game Warden or constable
or informer who shall procure a conviction under this Act shall
be entitled to the half fine recovered, and remaining half shall
be paid over to the State Treasurer to the account of the State
Game Protection Fund, to be used by the State Game Warden
as may be provided by law.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 251.

AN ACT for the further protection of wild fowl in the State of

Maryland.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That it shall be unlawful to purposely or unnecessarily
disturb, on their feeding grounds, or when bedded in the waters
